FOREIGN
TRADE ZONES

Two general
purpose Foreign Trade Zones are located within a one-hour
drive of the Emporia-Greensville area. One is located near
U.S. 58 in Suffolk and the second is located near I-64 at
Richmond International Airport. A manufacturer may establish
a Foreign Trade Sub Zone at its facility in the Emporia-Greensville
area in co-operation with either nearby Foreign Trade Zone.
Within Foreign Trade Zones and Sub Zones, goods from foreign
countries can be stored, exhibited, processed, fabricated
and reshipped abroad, without payment of Customs duties or
state ad valorem taxes.
